State Microscopical Society of Illinois
Founded in 1868, the State Microscopical Society of Illinois (SMSI) is a group of amateur and professional microscopists who share a common interest in microscopes and their application. Members have diverse backgrounds in science and other fields.
The society holds:
• Monthly meetings with informative presentations on a wide range of subjects, including natural history, medicine, meteoritics, geology, chemistry, physics and more
• Workshops
• Annual picnic
• Awards dinner, held annually at the Inter/Micro conference
• Auction of equipment.
SMSI welcomes anyone who is interested in joining the group. The only requirement is an interest in microscopy.
