Advanced Indoor Air Quality: Identification of Fungal Cultures (1632)

COURSE OUTLINE & SYLLABUS

Culturing fungi is essential in order to identify fungi to the species level. The course will cover media, culture methods, spore identification and viable sampling methods. Emphasis is on the fungi that relate to indoor air quality and human health.

The class is appropriate for aerobiologists, industrial hygienists, air quality specialists and clinical mycologists, among others.

History of mold classification

Hyphomycetes – what are they?

Conidiogenesis

Isolation techniques

Sampling techniques

Storing fungi

Culture plate ID

Culture plate ID

Note: Cultures will be determined during the following week after assessment of viability and sporulation.
