McCrone Research Institute (McRI) is located at 2820 S Michigan Avenue (28th and Michigan), in the South Loop of downtown Chicago, midway between the McCormick Place Conference center and U.S. Cellular Field.
Directions to McCrone Research Institute
If you are driving:
Our driveway and parking lot can only be accessed from south bound lane of Michigan Avenue.
- From expressways 90/94, you can exit to 31st street and go east towards Michigan Avenue.
- From Lake Shore Drive you can exit at 31st Street and go west toward Michigan Avenue.
From either of these two directions proceed north 3 blocks to 28th Street. You can U-turn to head south in front of Roger’s Auto Group, block north of 28th Street. Our building is a one-story brick building set back from Michigan Avenue with a lawn and sign in front.
Parking is free in our parking lot but parking elsewhere, especially in downtown Chicago, can be very expensive.
If you are arriving at O’Hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW) airport:
The O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway International Airport (MDW) connect Chicago with most cities. Midway Airport is closer to the McCrone Research Institute but OHare offers more connecting services.
McCrone Research Institute (McRI) is located at 2820 S Michigan Avenue, in the south loop of downtown Chicago. If you are ariving at OHare airport, you may take the Continental Airport Express van to downtown Chicago. The transportation service is located at Door 1E, 2D, and 3E across from the baggage claim. The approximate cost will be $27.00 one-way or $49.00 round trip. If you are arriving at Midway airport, you may take the Continental Airport Express van located in Door 3, lower level for a cost of $22.00 one-way or $37.00 round trip.
If you wish to take a taxicab from OHare airport to downtown Chicago, the fare is approximately $45.00. A cab from Midway airport to downtown Chicago is approximately $30.00.
There is also a subway train from the airport terminals to the downtown area. The Blue line train runs from OHare airport and the Orange line train from Midway Airport. From the subway stations located all over the city, you can take a short taxi ride to various downtown hotels and central locations.
Public Transportation:
Public transportation in Chicago is readily available in the downtown and surrounding areas. Services in downtown Chicago (The Loop) include buses, the L (elevated) train system, and subway trains, all of which are managed by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) (www.chicagotransitautority.com).
Transportation to the Chicago suburbs is available by bus and the Metra trains (www.metrarail.com)
If you rely on public transportation to get to McRI from your hotel, the CTA #1 Indiana/Hyde Park bus and the #4 Cottage Grove (but NOT the #4 Express) buses stop in front of our building on Michigan Avenue. The fare is $2.00 each way and you must have correct change. A cab ride may cost $10 to $20 each way.
Most five-day classes end Friday at noon and we suggest that you do not schedule plane departure before 3pm. Three-day courses end at 5 p.m. on the third day.
